Date paste or date honey is a natural fruit sweetener that can be used in place of honey or maple syrup in most recipes. Dates contain vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium they are super nutritious and a more healthier alternative to sugar.


1 cup Pitted Medjool Dates
1 cup boiling water

Add the cup of dates to a 2 cup measure and pour the boiling water over, cover with plastic wrap and set aside for a couple of hours to cool.

Drain half of the water from the dates, set the water aside. Puree the dates and the remaining water in a food processor or nutri-bullet. Add a few tablespoons of the soaking water to the date puree and continue to blend until the date paste is nice and creamy. (I needed to use all of the water)

Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for two weeks or about three months in the freezer.

Use it to slightly sweeten shakes or in any place honey or maple syrup is used.
